There is life beyond Punta del Este. Actually, real life. If you turn left when you get to Jose Ignacio, follow a dirt road through the countryside you finally get to the town of Garzon (how do you call a 200 people town? Small? tiny?...)
There, Francis Mallmann opened a restaurant and guesthouse a few years back, that he named after the town itself, Garzon.
We had a nice room, sort of rustic but even so it had a great bed and first class linens. But the best part is the restaurant and the amazing patio, the common areas shared by the five rooms.
And then is the food. Sort of a high-end "all-you-can-eat-and-drink". Considering that Mallmann
is the best chef in Argentina and Uruguay, that is a very good thing.
