South Street Seaport, getting there.

How to make the perfect pied-à-terre for a couple working in finance?
We thought it might be interesting to show you a renovation which is almost finished. The apartment was built in 1984 and everything was still original (bathroom fixtures and cheap parquet floors included).

We upgraded the look with custom cabinetry and paneling in the hallway to add drama. Also the kitchen cabinets were replaced with fine Italian cabinetry from Canova .

So, we wanted to show a project before it is photographed professionally, so you can get a behind the scenes look.

The apartment is almost there, but not yet.

  2. Dear Greet: Thanks for the compliment!
We chose american walnut, dark stained. We did 3 or 4 samples and chose the one that you can see. Our cabinetmaker is extremely skilled (a rare find in NYC)

  3. My husband is designing a bathroom for one of our clients now. The client would something contemporary and wanted a wood that does well with modern bathtube and washbasins. So we had also thought about american walnut!
It is a beautiful wood ! Here in Belgium it is rather expensive!

    Have a nice weekend,

  4. Dear Greet, walnut is a favourite in our team!. We chose to stain it because the veneer the cabinetmaker found was a bit yellow. And yes, it is expensive (most of the good veneers are anyway).
    Have a nice weekend too
